Description

An automated AA platform stands sentinel over the city it once defended, its guns long since fallen silent.

Aww crap my poetry sucks. Anyway this was a 3 hour speedpaint in PS (I've given up on painter for a while the brushes are just frustrating). Mainly to experiment with dramatic lighting. Was also testing out my ability to do cityscapes. It's quite evident which 2 background buildings I invested a little more love in.

Anyone got any tips on doing straight lines in PS? The vector lines form new layers which are just damn irritating to work with. And if I had a better tablet the railings wouldn't have been made of earthworms. I think I'll buy me a Wacom next week- the nib of my current one gives lots of spurious and anomalous readings.

PS its not too obvious but this AA tower is one of a series which stretch out in an extended line. Was trying to do sth like the huge British air defence tower thingies.

You can still use the line tool (shortcut "U") to create non-vector lines (raster lines or pixel lines) in your current layer. In the top left corner, next to the tool presets, there are three icons: "Shape layers", "Paths" and "Fill pixels". Select "fill pixels" and you will create pixel lines in the active layer.

By the way, great artwork. Your usage of the lighting is great. Impressive atmosphere and realistic glows. Well done!
